The Jones Trio started as a jones duo consisting of Peter Jones on piano and Joe Fitzpatrick on drums. Through playing in the band Unit 7, they met bassist Donny Hayward and from that they formed jones trio. The music they play is anything but the standard jazz….. Peter’s original compositions combine jazz, african, latin, blues, classical, broadway, rock and funk and everything in between.
Kim Zombik started singing in Boston as a young girl, inspired by Barbra Streisand and Diana Ross. Her mom introduced her to the music of Billie Holiday, and she was hooked. Her plans to be a pediatrician went out the window. Since then she has been described as “a musical jewel” with a repertoire that has included jazz standards, the blues, reggae and funk. And has played gigs from Irkutsk, Siberia to Montreal’s Jazz Festival. Her repertoire includes the blues, funk and not-so standard jazz.
"Zombik simply entrances, and she does it almost effortlessly.” Montreal Gazette, July 2009
Starting here in the Valley with Stash and Live and the Planet through to Unit 7, Kim and bassist Donny Hayward have played together for over a decade and have played with Maceo Parker and Charles Neville. Peter Jones, Joe Fitzpatrick, Kim and Donny were members of Unit 7 and are happy to reunite to play a great combination of music that will swing and groove your soul….it’s “jazz that thumps!”
