What better way to kick off 2013 than with a rockin' dance extravaganza at the Arts Block? John Sheldon & Blue Streak will host a star-studded evening of musical magic. John's guests include Arts Block Favorite and host of Ladies in Jazz, Ms. Samirah Evans, saxman extraordinaire Joe Roderick, Soul Man Moonlight Davis, Singer/Songwriter Daniel Kasnitz and the amazing dancer Dakini Borealis.

JOHN SHELDON is an Arts Block favorite with international credentials. A guitar prodigy who was working professionally at age 14, including a stint as Van Morrison's lead guitarist at 17, John has gone on to write hundreds of songs, including "September Grass" which appeared on a platinum album by James Taylor. John has also composed for film and theater, conducted workshops in songwriting and composition.


JOE RODERICK has worked in John Sheldon’s band “Blue Streak” for many years. Joe channels a wealth of rock, soul, jazz and blues through his tenor saxophone, harmonicas and vocals. An accomplished songwriter himself, Joe brings intense heart and soul to his music, and is the perfect melodic foil for Sheldon.



SAMIRAH EVANS has been thrilling audiences in the northeast since moving from New Orleans to New England. Her repertoire runs the gamut from raunchy blues to jazz smooth as silk. She recently released her third CD, “Hot Club” with her band, Samirah Evans and Her Handsome Devils. Samirah created & hosts the music series “Ladies in Jazz” at the Arts Block. Evans has toured Europe, Asia, and North & South America as a headliner, and shared stages with legendary artists from B.B. King and James Brown, to New Orleans’ Queen of Soul, Irma Thomas.



MOONLIGHT DAVIS has been singing Gospel music since age 4 when he stood up on the offering table and sang the Lord's Prayer. He has opened for the Wynans, conducted gospel choirs and sung in churches all over the East Coast. He plays keyboards and hand drums, having trained with Babtunde Olatunji. He has shared the stage with the legendary Billy Preston, Evelyn Harris of Sweet Honey in the Rock and local musical luminaries including: Erik Lawrence, David Wertman, Derrik Jordan, Vishnu Wood, Bob Weiner.



DAKINI BOREALIS is an improvisational artist of movement. She worked with The Moving Arts Collaborative, Shumka Dance Theatre Company, Wendy Osserman Dance Company, Tai Dang & Company, Electric Currents Dance Company, Extremos, The Mysterious Floating Nightclub, Jeff Derose, Cara Judea Alhadeff, Chris Nelson, Marianne Connolly and Karen Dolmanisth. She also danced in an off-Broadway production of "The Moon Is A Skull of Dust With Dark Wings" at the John Houseman Theatre.



DANIEL KASNITZ is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, audio engineer/producer and recording studio owner. He has extensive experience in the music technology field, working with leading companies such at MOTU, Sweetwater and Røde. Daniel is a regular on the Southern Vermont music scene


Local brewers LEFTY’S BREWING COMPANY will be bringing in their amazing boutique beers. Delicious Thai treats will be available from HATTAPON’S KITCHEN, also in downtown Greenfield.
