Samirah Evans Jazz Quartet - 2/15, 7:30pm

Celebrating  2014 "The Year of Love" Everyday is Valentines Day!

A Swingin' Dinner & Dance Evening!

The Arts Block extends Valentines Day weekend festivities with dinner and dancing featuring the Samirah Evans Jazz Quartet Saturday, February 15th.

Jazz and Blues vocalist Samirah Evans will present an evening of swingin’ classics and love songs for those who still feel the love in the air beyond Valentines Day.

A friend pointed out to Samirah that because we are in the year of 2014 it should be considered the "Year of Love" therefore, as the song goes Each Day is Valentines Day. "So I took the idea and ran with it" says Evans.  Thus the Valentines day event on February 15th at the Arts Block. 289 Main St. Greenfield, MA.

Samirah has invited some of her friends to help her present the appropriate celebratory  music  for the occasion. Pianist Bob Merrill, who adds another dimension to Samirah’s show as they are a dynamic duo vocally. Bassist Peter Concilio, who she’s been in performance with on several occasions with Merrill and developed an immediate musical connection with.  Drummer Claire Arenius, a long time heavy hitter on the New York and New England scene performing with the likes of Melba Liston, Slide Hampton, Archie Shepp, Mose Allison and Sheila Jordan. Arenius was also recently featured during the last installment of Samirah's  “Ladies in Jazz” series. "Not only will the music be hot but this group knows how to have fun and it’s bound to be infectious" says Samirah.

The music starts at 7:30pm. Advance tickets can be purchased for $15 at theartsblock.com or by calling 413-774-0150. Tickets will be available at the door the evening of the concert for $18. Smithsonian Cafe will serve dinner from 5 to 8pm.

She formed Samirah Evans & Her Handsome Devils in 2007 and has performed at clubs, concert halls and music festivals throughout the northeast.
